Tuna Mornay Recipe


1. 50g butter, chopped 2. 1 brown onion, finely chopped 3. 1 large celery stalk, trimmed, finely chopped 4. 1/4 cup plain flour 5. 2 cups milk 6. 2/3 cup grated cheddar cheese 7. 425g Coles Tuna Chunks In Springwater, drained, flaked 8. 1 (100g) medium bread roll 9. Olive oil cooking spray 10. Baby cos lettuce, to serve 11. Cherry tomatoes, to serve

Method Steps: 1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/160°C fan-forced.

Heat the chopped butter in a saucepan over medium heat for 2 minutes or until melted and foaming.  

Add the finely chopped onion and celery. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until the onion has softened.  

Add the plain flour. Using a wooden spoon, stir to combine. Cook, stirring, for 1 to 2 minutes or until the mixture bubbles. 

Remove the pan from the heat. Slowly add the milk, 1/4 cup at a time, stirring constantly to prevent lumps forming. 

Return the pan to medium heat. Cook, stirring, for 5 minutes or until the sauce boils and thickens. Remove from heat. Stir in the grated cheese and flaked tuna. 

Divide the mixture between four 1 cup-capacity ovenproof dishes. Tear the bread roll into small pieces. Sprinkle over the mixture.  

Lightly spray with olive oil cooking spray. Place the dishes on a baking tray. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden.
